Updike Funeral Home
Since 1864, Updike Funeral Home has been providing compassionate, caring service to the families of Bedford and the surrounding areas. In today ’s corporate world, we are one of the few exceptions by still being family owned, enabling us to better serve the community in which we, the employees and families of Updike Funeral Home, live and work.
We have two locations and we serve– sometimes - the fourth or fifth generation of the great people of Bedford. As active participants of the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, we look forward to watching Bedford continue to grow and prosper. We believe the Chamber offers an opportunity not only to build business relationships, but make friends.
               Respectfully,
     Tim Murphy

Arthur’s Jewelry
Our business began in 1894, in a little shop on East Main Street. The shop was owned by J. A. Heuser and was later purchased by Penn Ayers and was called Ayer ’s Jewelry. Then in 1928, Luther Arthur came to Bedford and bought the business from Mr. Ayers. A few years later, he acquired his own shop on East Main and called it “Arthur’s Jewelry”. Later, Melvin and Margaret Dickler purchased the business. In 1992, there was another change in ownership, as my wife and I purchased the business. Recently, we opened a second store located in Wyndhurst in Lynchburg.
At Arthur’s, we have seen the benefits of the Chamber over many years and we believe that it is a vital part of the community.
    Respectfully,

Peoples Furniture
I am kind of the new kid on the block. I have been in the furniture business since I was 20 years old, and with Peoples for nine years. We opened in 1934, with a promise to offer superior home furnishings and the absolute best customer service to the Bedford community. And for almost 73 years, Mike Reynolds has guided this idea with a friendly smile, a handshake, and an occasional hug. Even today, Mike greets his long time friends, as well as the new patrons that visit Peoples Furniture with that same smile and handshake. Though at 94 years of age, it may take him a second or two longer than it once did.
Located at 118 N. Bridge St. for all 73 years, Peoples Furniture is a Charter Member of the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, and Mr. Reynolds is a past President of the Chamber.  There could not be a better community or a more supportive Chamber to be a part of, as we look forward to the next 73 years of smiles and handshakes, as well as an occasional hug .
Respectfully,

Murray & Bolling Chevrolet
Murray & Bolling Chevrolet has been around for 60 years, making us the oldest dealership in the Bedford Area. A success like this comes from doing things right and keeping customers happy. Over the years, as chamber members we have seen Bedford grow and change. We are proud of our being a “Founding Father” and very appreciative of our many loyal customers.
Respectfully,
Richard Bolling
