Bedford Education Alliance (BEA) Projects & Tasks:
- Implement a career exploration day in at least two of the three Bedford County middle schools in the 2009-2010 academic year.
- Coordinate with other entities that are/can be involved in the implementation of career exploration day.
- Contact guidance counselors
- Contact Junior Achievement- complete
- Contact Bedford County Administration
- Determine funding availability/limitations
- Gather information from businesses regarding their experience with the previous career exploration day and their interest in participating in the upcoming career exploration day.
- Create a survey to send to all businesses to gauge interest and commitment by April 1st
- To get responses by May 1st, send survey to businesses by April 15th
- Gather and compile survey results by May 9th
- Get compiled information to J.A. and to schools by May 10th
- Utilize information obtained from schools, businesses, and agencies to plan and carry out the career exploration day.
- Meet face-to-face with schools to discuss their needs and logistic issues by April 30th
- Meet face-to-face with schools to plan in more detail utilizing survey results
- To explore other programs that could expose youth to educational and/or career opportunities and recommend one program for implementation by September 1, 2009.
