Do you just need to get away?  We highly recommend Affordable Bedford Getaways!

The Bedford Area Chamber was pleased to join its new member, Affordable Bedford Getaways, with an Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Wednesday, September 1st.  Owner Sara Kennedy is excited to tell you about not just one getaway, but three – at three separate locales in Bedford County.

One such location is at 604 Peaks Street, located in the heart of Bedford City’s beautiful residential district.  According to tax records, the owners of this home began paying taxes in 1845 many years before Union General David Hunter and his Raiders marched south in 1864.  According to local legend (and easy to believe), Hunter’s Raiders camped on these very grounds.

The sprawling front lawn with its grand old trees invites you onto the boxwood-lined walkway and up a grand stairway front entrance into the three-story brick home.  Many changes have been made to the house during the past years, which included renovating the separate kitchen that once stood in the back yard, and the addition of a modern-day kitchen.

Sound like a great getaway?  It is.  Its Old South charm with today’s modern conveniences also makes it a perfect venue for small weddings, group reunions and meetings, and any other excuse you might use to just indulge yourself a bit.

But, if you’re looking for something more remote and out of the “hustle bustle” of Bedford City, Sara Kennedy has two other “affordable getaways” at Turkey Mountain and near Smith Mountain Lake.  You can get further information by calling 540-586-2238
