Saturday, October 17, community residents and officials joined to celebrate the opening of Downtown Moneta's new Sheriff's Office. Donated by George and Michelle Aznavorian (Moneta Square Association),the substation won't be manned, but it will be a place deputies can file reports from the field. It even has a phone outside for victims to dial 911. The best part is that the space won't cost tax-payers a dime, thanks to the generosity and community spirit of the Aznavorians. Among others, he was joined in the ceremony by Michelle Aznavorian, District 5 Supervisor Chuck Neudorfer, and Vicky Gardner, Smith Mountain Lake Chamber.
